Vietnam has been drawn in Group A along with Thailand and Sri Lanka at the 2016 Asian U19 Women’s Volleyball Championship, to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from July 23 to 31.
Reigning champions China join Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Hong Kong (China) in Group B, while Group C is made up of runners-up Japan, India, Iran and Macau.
Group D features the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Australia and the Philippines.
Vietnam will keep the same lineup that finished as runners-up at the recent Southeast Asian U19 competition for the upcoming continental competition.
Coached by Japanese Shuto Koichi, the Vietnamese women are expected to make the last eight of the tournament.
Vietnam will play their group opener against Thailand on July 23 before taking on Sri Lanka the following day.
At the 2014 championship, Vietnam won four and lost three matches, ending up in 10th place overall among 15 participating teams.
