FourFourTwo magazine has included Vietnam’s U23 team among the top 3 nominees for “National team of the Year” in the Southeast Asian Football Awards.
The first award given by Four Four Two magazine honours the best teams and players in Southeast Asian football. The Vietnamese team is in second place on the list. According to the magazine, following a disappointing AFF Cup 2016, Vietnam’s team have made great progress by securing qualification for the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE with an unbeaten record and only one fixture remaining. Thailand is a strong candidate to take the award from Vietnam as it currently tops the list. The third place on the list goes to the Philippines. Meanwhile, midfielder Dinh Thanh Trung has been named among FourFourTwo’s top 5 for Player of the Year. His challengers for the award are Chanathip Songkrasin and Teerasil Dangda of Thailand, Aung Thu of Myanmar, and Andritany Ardhiyasa of Indonesia. Vietnamese midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai has been chosen among the top 5 nominees for Young Player of the Year. |
