The State Council for Professorship Titles recently convened and approved the dossiers of 900 candidates, including 71 for professor and 829 for associate professor. This figure includes candidates from both the military and security sectors.

As a result, 11 candidates - 2 for professor and 9 for associate professor - did not pass the council's review process for the 2025 academic title cycle.

Subsequently, the State Council officially published the list of candidates recognized as professors and associate professors for 2025.

In terms of age, Tran Quoc Trung, currently 39 years old, is the youngest individual to meet the criteria for full professorship. He serves as the Deputy Director of Foreign Trade University’s Campus II in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meanwhile, Do Quang Loc (lecturer in the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Nguyen Ha Thanh (senior researcher at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), both born in 1992 and now 33 years old, are the youngest associate professors in Vietnam this year.

According to the Council’s Office, in 2025, a total of 1,073 individuals submitted applications for recognition of the academic titles of professor and associate professor at grassroots-level councils.

Of these, 1,014 applicants were forwarded to 28 disciplinary and interdisciplinary professorship councils for further evaluation.

After further review, 911 candidates - comprising 73 for professor and 938 for associate professor - were nominated for recognition by the State Council.

In the final round, 900 candidates met the required number of approval votes. This accounts for 83.88% of all initial applicants, with a 71% success rate for professor candidates and 85.2% for associate professor candidates.
