The Food Safety Authority under the Ministry of Health said it had received information from Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regarding the urgent recall of two Nature's Own dietary supplement products from the Australian market.

The recall was issued after authorities identified a potential risk that broken glass fragments could be present inside the product bottles. The TGA emphasized that any glass fragments, if present, are not contained within the tablets themselves but may be found randomly inside the packaging.

Products subject to recall

The two products covered by the recall are:

Nature's Own Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin (320 tablets), batch number 1662937, expiry date April 2028.

Nature's Own Magnesium Glycinate 1150mg (300 tablets), batch number 1665576, expiry date April 2028.

Both products are distributed by Sanofi Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Sanofi, and have been widely available in Australia since May 7.

Not officially registered in Vietnam

After reviewing its database, the Food Safety Authority confirmed that the products have not been granted product registration certificates for official distribution in Vietnam.

However, the agency noted that Vietnamese consumers may still be able to purchase the products through e-commerce platforms or unofficial import channels, including hand-carried goods.

To ensure consumer safety, the authority has requested health departments in provinces and cities nationwide to urgently review any product registrations or self-declarations related to the recalled items.

Local authorities have also been instructed to work with importers and distributors, if any, to notify retailers, advise consumers to immediately stop using the products and organize recalls of affected batches.

In addition, local agencies are required to strengthen public communication efforts so consumers are aware of the warning and can take appropriate precautions. Reports on implementation measures must be submitted to the Food Safety Authority before June 18.
