Nguyen Tuan Anh and Bui Hoang Viet Anh scored for the hosts at the 16th and 75th minute.
Tuan sent a free kick to the high far corner of Chinese Taipei’s goalkeeper. Later, Anh made it 2-0 from a penalty shootout after he missed one in the first half.
The result pushed Vietnam to the top of the table in the five-team tournament.
Vietnamese Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC and Korean Gwangju FC shared the second position after their goalless match that was played before the opening ceremony on April 11.
In today’s fixture, Chinese Taipei will play Gwangju and Vietnam will meet Myanmar.
