Nguyễn Tiến Nhật triumphed in the men’s epee individual event, after defeating his fellow countryman Nguyễn Phước Đến in the final match at the OCBC Arena, Fencing National Training Centre.
Lee Mun Hou Samson was awarded a bronze medal after defeating Loh Wei Jie Oscar in an all-Singapore third-place play-off.
The second gold medal won by Việt Nam went to Nguyễn Xuân Lợi, who beat his Vietnamese teammate Nguyễn Văn Quyết in the men’s sabre individual event final.
Malaysian Emir Putra Syed Adam came in third place, winning over See Zhuo Rui Jorelle of the hosts in the bronze-medal match.
Việt Nam also took part in the women’s foil individual category, but failed to place in the top three.
Athletes will continue competing in different events on Sunday, April 30, the final day.
Nguyễn Thị Luyến will be the Vietnamese representative in the women’s epee individual. Nguyễn Thị Như Hoa will take part in the women’s sabre individual.
Nguyễn Chiến Thắng and Nguyễn Minh Quang will vie for the title in the men’s foil individual.
