In the mixed doubles event, Vietnamese duo Tran Hoang Duy Thuan and Bui Thi Thoa won a gold medal on November 10.
This comes following the two athletes from Ho Chi Minh City bagging gold at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) on home soil.
The same day saw Pham Van Phuoc achieve the highest score from the judges for his performance in the men's fitness category for those under 1m60 in height, claiming the gold medal in the process.
The latest gold medal wins comes following Vietnamese athletes obtaining five gold and five silver medals at the tournament.
In particular, Pham Van Mach brought home a gold medal in the men’s 55kg bodybuilding category, with this year marking the sixth time that the 47-year-old Vietnamese athlete has been crowned champion in this competition.
Dinh Kim Loan proved her talent in the women’s 55kg bodybuilding event, with the latest win being the third championship title won by the 35-year-old athlete following her success back in 2015 and 2017.
Elsewhere, a further three gold medals went to Ho Huy Binh in the men’s 70kg bodybuilding, Tran Bao Quoc Vuong in the men’s 65kg bodybuilding, and Nguyen Thi Kim Dung in the women’s fitness over 1.65 metres.
The 14th World Body Building and Physique Sports Championship 2023 is set to last through to November 12, with the event attracting over 400 athletes from 60 countries and territories worldwide. Vietnam has sent a total of 22 athletes to the tournament.
