Eight team members, 11th graders from Ha Noi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, won one gold medal, three silver medals, three bronze medals and a consolation prize.
Nguyen Manh Quan from the school’s Physics 1 Class was also recognised as the absolute winner for his perfect performance in the competition.
The event took place in Hungary from August 2 to 10, attracting the participation of students from 42 countries and territories.
The competition aims to promote students' interest in astronomy and related subjects.
At present, astronomy and astrophysics are not included in the official curriculum of Vietnam’s public high schools.
In last year's IOAA in China, the Vietnamese team bagged four medals and placed in the top ten.
