The Vietnamese team of 48 wrestlers won the championship with 24/24 sets of gold medals in the men’s freestyle and classical categories and the women’s freestyle event at the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championships.

Wrestlers are competing at the men's classical category



The General Department of Sports and Physical Training in coordination with the Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an award ceremony for the winners of the Southeast Asian Wrestling Championships at the Bac Ninh provincial multi-purpose stadium on November 25.

After three days of competition, Vietnamese wrestlers won 24 out of the 24 sets of gold medals. In the men’s classical category, gold medals went to Doi Dang Tien, Pham Sy Thu, Nguyen Vu Hoang, Do Minh Tuan, Nghiem Dinh Hieu, Duong Thanh Ho, Nguyen Ba Son and Vu Van Hao.

In the women’s freestyle event, gold medals went to Nguyen Thi Xuan, Vu Thi Hang, Kieu Thi Ly, Dao Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Nguyen Thi Vinh, Ly Thi Nguyet and Tran Thi Huong.

Meanwhile, Pham Van Co, Nguyen Huu Dinh, Nguyen Xuan Dinh, Nguyen Dinh Long, Can Tat Du, Hoang Van Nam, Ngo Van Lam and Ha Van Hieu seized gold medals in the men’s free style category.

The tournament attracted 125 wrestlers from seven different countries in the Southeast Asian region including Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. The wrestlers competed for 24 sets of medals in the men’s freestyle and classical categories and the women’s freestyle event.
