Vietnam wins first runner-up title at Mister Universe Tourism

Vietnamese doctor Huynh Vo Hoang Son was honoured as first runner-up at the grand finale of Mister Universe Tourism 2023 taking place in Bali, Indonesia, on March 19.

He was chosen to enter the Top 8 finalists and compete in the Q&A segment alongside representatives from Canada, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Spain, and Sri Lanka. 

With a strong performance put in during the final night, the Vietnamese contestant was given the first runner-up title and named as the winner of the Best National Costume sub-title.

This marks the best ever result achieved by a Vietnamese representative at Mister Universe Tourism. Previously, two local models Vu Linh and Nguyen Luan were named among the Top 10 of the pageants 2017 and 2019, respectively.

Hoang Son is currently working as a doctor at the Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City. He stands at 1.85 metres tall, weighs 80 kg, and has measurements of 105-78-105.

Mister Universe Tourism is one of the world’s five largest male pageants, alongside Mister World, Mister International, Manhunt International, and Mister Global. The main goal of the annual pageant is to discover representatives to promote tourism worldwide.

The contest has been postponed for the past three years due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

Mister Universe Tourism 2023 is running from March 12 to 21 in Bali, Indonesia, with the participation of 30 contestants from across the globe.

Erik Lennart Visser of the Philippines was crowned Mister Universe Tourism 2023, while Huynh Vo Hoang Son of Vietnam and Francisco Jose Merida Moyano of Spain were named as first and second runners-up.
