Trinh Van Vinh of Vietnam grabbed a gold and a silver medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan yesterday.

Vinh triumphed in the men’s U62kg class’s clean and jerk event with a lift of 158kg.

Japanese Yoichi Itokazu and Mohammed Ridha Ali from Iraq came second and third, respectively.

Despite not being in contention for the top three of the snatch event, Vinh’s total result of 282kg brought him a silver medal in the total ranking.

Itokazu claimed the gold while Ali took his second bronze.

The championships will end on Saturday.
