Vietnam grabbed one gold, one silver and two bronze medals yesterday at the Taiwan Athletics Open.

Ly (right) seen at the Southeast Asian Games last December in Singapore. Ly won two gold medals at the Taiwan Athletics Open’s women’s 1,500m and 800m events which closes on May 21.

Vu Thi Ly secured her second gold at the tournament after winning the women’s 800m with a time of 2min 13.54sec.

Ke Yongxin and Zhou Guanling, both of the hosts, took silver and bronze, respectively.

Ly’s first gold was in the 1,500m one day earlier.

Tran Hue Hoa came second in the women’s triple jump.

Hoa jumped 13.63m, behind winner Olga Rypakova of Kazakhstan who scored 14.30m. Vu Thi Men of Vietnam was third on 13.28m.

Duong Van Thai took his second medal after placing third in the men’s 800m. On May 20 he triumphed in the 1,500m.

After two days of competitions, Vietnam bagged four golds, two silvers and two bronzes to rank third in the medal tally.

India topped the tournament with four golds, three silvers and two bronzes. South Korea followed with four golds, three silvers and one bronze.
