The first gold medal went to Mai Hieu Linh in the girls' division. After nine rounds, Linh secured a total of 8.5 points with eight wins and one draw, claiming the top position and earning the gold medal in the U14 girls' category.

The second and third places went to Kaliakhmet Elnaz of Kazakhstan with eight points and Mohamadi Niyousha of Iran with seven points.

On the same day, the Vietnamese team achieved more prizes, including a silver medal in the U16 girls' category for Nguyen Binh Vy, a silver medal in the U18 girls' category for Luong Hoang Tu Linh, and a bronze medal in the U18 girls' category for Vuong Quynh Anh.

Elsewhere, chess player Dinh Nho Kiet also finished the nine rounds in the top position and clinched a gold medal with seven wins and two draws in the U14 boys' category.

In the U18 boys' category, both Quoc Hy of Vietnam and Sharipov Davron of Uzbekistan finished the competition with the same number of points.

However, the Vietnamese chess player claimed first position with a superior tiebreaker, while Davron settled for second place. In this category, Hy’s teammate Dau Khuong Duy earned a bronze medal with a total of 6.5 points.

Furthermore, young Vietnamese chess players earned a silver medal in the U8 category courtesy and a bronze medal in the U16 category.

Following the Blitz chess category, the players will continue to compete in the rapid chess category. The Asian Youth Chess Championships 2023 are due to last until December 22.
