Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team won the AVC Cup for the third consecutive time.

According to the official draw announced on April 17, Vietnam are placed in Group B alongside Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), and Lebanon.

Group A features host nation Philippines, reigning runners-up of the previous edition, along with Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Australia.

Experts have assessed Vietnam’s group as manageable, with Kazakhstan, Iran, and Indonesia considered beatable opponents. However, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his squad are still expected to prepare thoroughly as they aim to defend their title.

Should Vietnam progress to the semi-finals or final, they could face stronger opposition such as Korea, who are set to make their debut appearance at the AVC Cup.

Vietnam women's national volleyball team have dominated the competition in recent years, winning the last three consecutive editions. Star player Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is expected to once again play a key role in the campaign.

Under tournament regulations, 12 teams are divided into two groups of six. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The AVC Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 6 to April 14 in Candon, Philippines, marking the first international tournament of the year for Vietnam’s women’s team.

Following the competition, the squad will continue a packed schedule that includes the SEA V-League, the Asian Championship, and a key target event, the Asian Games in Japan this June.
