Immediately after the second leg of the 2026 SEA V League concluded, the Vietnam women's national volleyball team turned its attention to preparations for the 2026 Asian Championship, which will take place in China from August 21-30.

Compared with the squad that competed in the second leg of the 2026 SEA V League, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has called up his strongest available lineup. At outside hitter, alongside team leader Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vietnam welcomes back Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Nguyen Thi Uyen.

Le Nhu Anh and Le Thanh Thuy are also included as middle blockers. Vo Thi Kim Thoa and Vi Thi Yen Nhi are the two setters, while Nguyen Khanh Dang and Le Thi Yen take the libero positions. Nguyen Thi Tra My is the squad's sole opposite hitter.

The 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship features 12 teams: hosts China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Iran, Hong Kong (China), Australia, Indonesia and Iraq.

Vietnam have been drawn in Pool C alongside Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong (China), a group expected to pose a formidable challenge for Thanh Thuy and her teammates. Pool A consists of China, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Iraq, while Pool B features Thailand, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Australia.

At this year's tournament, the champions will secure direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, while the top three teams will earn places at the 2027 World Championship (World Cup). Vietnam enter the 2026 Asian Championship as the reigning AVC Cup champions after winning the title in 2025.
