Representatives from 88 universities and educational and research organisations from 11 countries centred discussions on social challenges and responsibility for tertiary education, including quality of training and research programmes, job opportunities for graduates, startup practices and university governance, among others.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc highlighted the need for training programmes with socio-economic development demand.

According to him, Vietnam’s education and tertiary education are undergoing basic and comprehensive reforms. The Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Tertiary Education, that took effect in July 2019, are set to bring important strides in university development, especially university autonomy.

Participants shared experience in university governance and collaboration between universities and firms to meet learners and society’s demand.-VNA
