“I felt both proud and excited on receiving the news,” said the actor, “I would not have such success without the support of director Tran Buu Loc, BHD Company – the producer of the film and its production team.”

Luan will attend the gala final, which will take place in December in Singapore, with renowned Chinese actress Zhou Xun, who was named Best Actress in a Leading Role Award for Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace.

Screened in September 2018, Descendants of the Sun honours the patriotism of Vietnamese youth. Besides Luan, the film also stars film stars like Hoai Phuong, Huu Vi and Cao Thai Ha.

It was a re-make of the South Korean blockbuster of the same name, but its content was adjusted to showcase the images of Vietnamese soldiers and doctors during peacetime.

With the participation of two South Korean films stars – Song Joong Ki and Song Kye Kyo – Descendants of the Sun was a cinematic phenomenon around the country.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards 2019, Asia Pacific’s most prestigious awards, were established to honour the films, producers and individuals with outstanding achievements in content creation and media production.

The awards include over 40 categories, selected and presented annually in Singapore by the Asia - Pacific Broadcasting Union. VNS
