Nguyen Thanh Dung
Major General Ho Sy Tien, head of the Criminal Police Department confirmed that they had arrested Nguyen Thanh Dung at around 8pm who had fled to Ho Chi Minh City. They also found dozens of child abuse video clips on the suspect's mobile phone.
Dung was being hunted after a video clip showing a Vietnamese man torturing a toddler at a rubber plantation in Cambodia stirred up public anger. A police report provided by Deputy Kompong Cham police chief Heng Sambath said that there was strong physical evidence that the boy had been sexually assaulted.
Stefan Struik, who have both American and Dutch nationalities, is identified as the mastermind. Struik and two other Cambodian accomplices were arrested by the Cambodian police while Dung fled to Vietnam.
According to the authorities, Dung is the cook at the plantation and Struik's boyfriend. The child's parents claim they didn't know about the abuse because there were no visible injuries.
