The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM) have expressed resolve to successfully organise the third Front Presidium Conference of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia slated for July in Hanoi.
They were also determined to work together for the success of the sixth conference on building the Vietnam-Cambodia borderline of peace and friendship in Cambodia in July or August.
Vice President of the VFF Central Committee Truong Thi Ngoc Anh and Acting Secretary General of the SFDCM National Council Nhem Valy discussed preparations for the two events during a working session in Phnom Penh on April 4, which are concurrent with the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties this year.
They shared view that since a cooperation programme between Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian fronts was signed in 2013 and a memorandum of understanding on building the Vietnam-Cambodia borderline of peace and friendship was inked by VFF and SFDCM in 2014, mutual understanding and friendship among the three Indochinese countries and Vietnam and Cambodia in particular have been strengthened.
Both sides have regularly exchanged visits by front delegations from the central to local level, especially in border localities to learn from experience in raising locals’ awareness of building a borderline of peace and friendship, they said.
The Cambodian side promised to further discuss the agenda for the two events with Vietnam soon.
The first Front Presidium Conference of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was held in Cambodia in 2011 and the second in Laos in 2013.
Meanwhile, the first edition of the conference on building the Vietnam-Cambodia borderline of peace and friendship took place in Ho Chi Minh City in 2008.
The following editions were held in the Cambodian province of Svay Rieng in 2009, the southern province of Tay Ninh in 2010, the Rattanakiri province of Cambodia in 2012 and the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang in 2014.
