Vietnamese artists were invited to Cannes for the first time in 2010. The delegation included famous names as Truong Ngoc Anh, Tran Bao Son, Mai Thu Huyen, La Thanh Huyen, Ngan Khanh ... Most of them were not praised for the outfits they chose for Cannes.

In 2011, actresses Thanh Hang, Minh Hang, and My Duyen attended the festival in unimpressive costumes.

In 2012, five Vietnamese actresses went to Cannes, including Dinh Ngoc Diep, Trang Nhung, Katy Uyen, Le Khanh and Tina Tinh and they were also not complimented for their outfits.
In 2013, Vietnamese actresses prepared carefully for the event. Ly Nha Ky purchased a Chanel gown worth VND2 billion ($100,000) while Truc Diem looked gorgeously with a gown designed by a famous designer in Vietnam.
However, Van Trang and Maya’s outfits were still criticized by the audience.
At Cannes in 2014, both two representatives of Vietnam - actresses Kim Tuyen and Kim Hien - did not leave any impression.
In 2015 the only representative of Vietnam at Cannes was former Tourism Ambassador Ly Nha Ky.
This time Ly Nha Ky chose expensive gowns of world famous designers as Alexis Mabille and Ermano Scervino.
At Cannes 2016, Ly Nha Ky, Angela Phuong Trinh and Thanh Thuy were three representatives of Vietnam. Ly Nha Ky wore expensive designs by Georges Hobeika while Angela Phuong Trinh chose designs by local names as Thuy Nguyen and Cong Tri.
