In celebration of Vietnam's 79th National Day, Vietnamese child prodigy Xeo Chu brought his contemporary art to Canada, combining his floral-themed paintings with traditional Vietnamese handicrafts in a unique cultural exhibition.

Held as part of a Vietnam-Canada cultural exchange event organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada, the exhibition highlighted the richness of Vietnamese art and craftsmanship. Visitors were able to admire Xeo Chu's striking paintings, featuring roses and nature, alongside beautifully crafted lacquerware, silk, and embroidered products made by skilled Vietnamese artisans.

Xeo Chu’s Ceramics series, which was painted during the COVID-19 pandemic, reflects the beauty of roses and nature in his garden. These paintings, such as Green Roses and Spring Roses, were complemented by Vietnamese lacquer boxes, silk fabrics, and intricately decorated trays that shared a similar color palette and artistic inspiration.

One of the standout pieces, Green Roses, features two roses in the center, painted in serene jade tones, evoking a sense of calm. Another piece, Spring Roses, captures the vibrant energy of blooming flowers basking in the warmth of the spring sun, symbolizing both strength and delicacy.

Xeo Chu, born in 2007, has gained international acclaim for his talent, with over 200 paintings exhibited in countries such as Singapore, the United States, and Dubai. At just 12 years old, he made headlines by selling his painting Hang Động Vịnh Hạ Long for $150,000 during an exhibition in the U.S., contributing the proceeds to charity.

Through this exhibition in Canada, Xeo Chu aims to show that Vietnamese contemporary art and craftsmanship are on par with global standards. His goal is to promote Vietnamese culture worldwide and inspire others through his art.

In addition to the exhibition, the event featured traditional Vietnamese performances, allowing both Canadians and the Vietnamese diaspora to experience the richness of Vietnamese culture.
