Vietnamese cueist Tran Quyet Chien jumped 8 spots to 10th place in the latest World Union of Billiards (UMB)'s three-cushion rankings.

As the winner of the Three-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup which concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on May 27, he was awarded prize money of EUR16,000 and added 80 points to his ranking score, bringing the total to 227 and driving his rise up the table.

Chien said the victory is a motivation for himself as well as many other Vietnamese players to pursue their passion for billiards.

Of his teammates, Ngo Dinh Nai won a silver medal, jumping 10 spots to 20th place on the world rankings, while Nguyen Quoc Nguyen received bronze, jumping 1 spot to 14th place.

Chien and his teammates will next fly to Belgium to attend the Three-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup from June 11-17.
