Nine Vietnamese cueists will compete in the three-cushion World Cup championship in Porto, Portugal.
Do Duc Hien, world No 2,262, advanced from the first qualifying round late July 3. Other cueists will begin playing on July 4-5.
Tran Quyet Chien, world No 15, Ma Minh Cam, world No 18, Duong Anh Vu, world No 29, Ngo Dinh Nai, No 35 and Ma Xuan Cuong, No 37 will take part in a qualifying round on July 6.
Only Nguyen Quoc Nguyen, world No 13, will automatically enter the main round on July 7.
Nguyen vaulted on to the world stage and cemented his reputation by winning the recent 2017 Asian Federation Championship in the Republic of Korea.
He won two bronze medals in the World Cup in 2014 and 2016, brought home a silver in an Asian event in 2013 and a gold in the Southeast Asian Games in 2011.
According to coach Nguyen Viet Hoa, these players are at their peak at present and should perform well.
The event will finish on July 9.
