In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the diplomat said the embassy has provided the Vietnamese community with information about the tension and asked them to keep a close watch on the situation to take suitable response.

The embassy has also contacted with offices and companies in Qatar where the Vietnamese are working for to get an update on their situation, while informing the Vietnamese about the embassy’s hotlines.

At the same time, it has coordinated with agencies at home in charge of labour management of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and labour import-export companies to get the list of Vietnamese workers in Qatar to well prepare for unexpected as well as necessary situations.

According to Hoang, competent Qatari agencies have pledged to pay attention to and create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese workers.

Nearly 2,000 Vietnamese are living in Qatar, with around 1,800 of them contracted to work at construction sites.  A handful of them are scientists and doctors who are working at research institutes, universities, oil platforms and construction companies. The others are engaging in the aviation, environment and beauty sectors.

In case of emergencies, they can contact the Vietnam Embassy in Qatar via the hotlines 974 4412 8480, 974 4412 8365, 974 4412 8366 and the MoLISA’s Overseas Labour Management Department Affairs through hotlines 84 98 7476 466, 84 90 4240 468 or 84 4 39366633.
