Miss Ocean Vietnam 2017 Le Au Ngan Anh has just sent her first images from the Miss Intercontinental 2018 pageant despite failing to receive an official endorsement to participate in the competition.

A clip which showed Ngan Anh’s catwalk in the Media Presentation show at the 47th Miss Intercontinental went viral in Vietnam.
"Her performance is still as bad as she was at the Miss Ocean 2017," a reader named Trong Chuan commented at an article about the issue on the Lao Dong Newspaper. "I feel ashamed she represents Vietnam at an international competition.
"She should be strictly punished for breaking the law," another reader, Minh Trang, commented. "She would get some sympathy if she was any good, but look, she has nothing good to show."
Le Au Ngan Anh applied to the Department of Performing Arts to ask for permission to take part in the Miss Intercontinental 2018 event, but was turned down, with the department's explanation that Anh's crown was not recognised due to violations in her last competition.
The beauty queen's representative then threatened to sue the department while she was still preparing for the international competition.
Le Au Ngan Anh beat 33 contestants to win the Miss Ocean crown on October 28, 2017. However, she has faced a mixed reception. There are accusations that she had her entire face redone with cosmetic surgery, including her eyelids, teeth, nose and lips before the contest. She denied the lip filling accusation. She admitted that she had a nose implant a few years ago, however, she said she had removed the cartilage graft when she decided to enter the contest.
In January last year, the department requested the organiser of Miss Ocean Vietnam 2017 to withdraw the crown from contest winner Le Au Ngan Anh due to her plastic surgery.
In a document signed by Head of the Department of Performing Arts Nguyen Quang Vinh dated January 11, 2018, the department ordered the organiser to strictly conform to their pledged responsibility when holding the pageant and remove Le Au Ngan Anh as the winner as she failed to meet the requirements to participate in the event.
Following the inspection from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vo Viet Chung, the director of the organiser, admitted their responsibility and said that they made mistake when letting Ngan Anh, who had had plastic surgery, enter the contest.
The firm was fined VND4 million (USD176) for letting her participate in the beauty pageant.
In a press meeting held on January 9 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a representative from the Department of Performing Arts confirmed that they did not agree for Ngan Anh to take part in the Miss Intercontinental 2018 because they do not recognise her crown at the Miss Ocean 2017.
Miss Intercontinental 2018 is being held from January 8-27 in the Philippines.
