Olympic qualifier Vu Thanh An will participate in the Senior World Cup Men’s Sabre individual and team events in Madrid, Spain, from May 13-15.

An is Russian coach Koryazhkin Sergey’s sole Vietnamese charge.

The individual events at the 34th edition of the tournament comprise of one qualifying round of pools, a preliminary direct elimination table and a main direct elimination table of 64 fencers to qualify for the final.

In the team events, the first four teams will be placed in the direct elimination table on the basis of their current official team ranking by the International Fencing Federation (FIE), while the remaining ranked teams will be placed in the table by drawing lots in pairs.

Nguyen Thi Le Dung, who will join An at the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and Bui Thi Thu Ha will participate in an event for women -- the FIE Women’s Saber World Cup -- to be held in Foshan, China.
