Vietnam Television (VTV) announced on June 10 that it has signed contracts with Viettel, FPT and VNPT for the transmission of intact signals of the matches and companion programmes related to the World Cup 2018 that will be broadcast on VTV channels.

Accordingly, VTV’s signals on the World Cup will be transmitted on the IPTV, OTT and mobile infrastructure of these units.

The aforementioned units are allowed to use images, videos and highlights of the matches to perform their own programmes on the IPTV, OTT and mobile foundation. VTV also shares a clean World Cup broadcasting licence for Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) so that the station can organise the production of its own programmes on the HTV9, HTV7 and HTV Sports channels.

A day earlier, VTV was officially granted the licence for 64 football matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including all media rights in the territory of Vietnam. VTV advocates sharing the media copyright from FIFA to all units in need in a reasonable manner, so in addition to the programmes distributed on its VTV6, VTV3 and VTV2 channels, VTV and its partners will bring the images of the world’s largest football tournament to the national audience.

It means that this year football fans in Vietnam can watch the World Cup on television, the internet and mobile devices for the first time.

VTV said that the national TV station will continue to receive requests from all media units, radio and television stations and press agencies on copyright sharing, the use of images or raw relays of the 2018 World Cup coverage in accordance with FIFA regulations. The deadline for receipt of requests is 5pm on June 12.
