The event forms part of the festival “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance”, which is taking place in the city from September 21 to October 14.
At a press conference on October 6, French Consul General in HCM City Vincent Floreani said the special performance is hoped to help local residents understand better about the cultures of other countries and contribute to strengthening art and culture relations among nations.
The “Urban distortion” piece is inspired by the global phenomenon of migration and raises questions such as: What is habitat, with whom do we share it? How do we perceive strangers and cultural differences?
The “Europe meets Asia” festival is an initiative of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), held in collaboration with the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, and the Goethe Institute.
It aims to promote the art of contemporary dance in Vietnam and boost cultural exchanges between local and international artists.
