VietNamNet Bridge – A 23-year-old girl from Quang Ninh Province recently had her lips cut off after injecting filler to have full lips at a private spa in Hanoi.

It is reported that the girl used the filler injecting service at a spa in Van Kiep alley in Hoan Kiem District in late April, wishing that her lower lip would look fuller.

After the surgery, the girl was satisfied with her full lower lip but then she suffered complications. Her lower lip was cracked, with fluid running out, swollen. The girl was hospitalized.

According to doctors of the Vietnam Cuba Hospital in Hanoi, the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of fever, with her lower lip swelling and in partial necrosis.

Doctors treated her with antibiotics, split the lip to extract puss and the filler substance.

As part of the lip got necrosis and did not respond to drug treatment, on July 5 doctors had to cut off the necrosis part.

Ms. Tran Thi Nhi Ha, an official from the Hanoi Health Department, said the spa was only licensed to provide simple skincare services only, not the filler injection technique.

Plastic surgery services like injecting fillers to beautify the nose, the chin or the lips have become very common among young women in Vietnam. Many similar incidents have been reported as customers did not go to prestigious hospitals but private spas which are not licensed to perform such services.
