The Government will issue a resolution spurring the development of domestic enterprises, the first such move to be taken by the Government.

The resolution will be based on comments collected at a dialogue between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and local and foreign business executives at the Reunification Palace in HCMC this Friday. It will come out after the Government’s cabinet meeting on May 5 and 6.

Le Manh Ha, vice chairman of the Government Office, said at a news briefing held in Hanoi last week to introduce the dialogue that the resolution will include a goal of improving the business environment.

The “Vietnamese businesses - the driving force for economic growth” event will send out the Prime Minister’s message that businesses are playing a key part in economic development.

Ha said the Prime Minister and deputy prime ministers Vuong Dinh Hue and Trinh Dinh Dung will co-chair the dialogue, which will be also attended by representatives of ministries, the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, the National Assembly (NA) Economic Committee, State Audit of Vietnam, the State Securities Commission and the Steering Committee for Enterprise Reform and Development.

Participating in the dialogue will be 300 private, 50 foreign direct investment (FDI) and 20 business associations, including the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), the Japanese Business Association and the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In addition, 50-100 representatives of companies in each province and city will follow the dialogue, which will be webcast, Chinhphu.vn reports.

“Those figures show the Government pays attention to private firms, medium and small enterprises,” Ha said. “Private businesses have been identified as a driving force for Vietnam’s economic growth.”

Ha said the dialogue will discuss solutions to speed up institutional reform to create a favorable and fair business environment and lift barriers to business.

The Prime Minister will assign leaders of ministries, agencies and localities to field questions raised by enterprises at the dialogue. The Prime Minister then will convene a meeting with ministries as well as leaders of provinces and cities on the afternoon of April 29 to find ways to remove hindrances to business.

At the dialogue, the Prime Minister will witness leaders of Hanoi and HCMC clinching an agreement with VCCI on their commitments to creating the best business environment possible.

Dialogues with private firms were initiated while Vo Van Kiet and Phan Van Khai were serving as prime ministers. They attracted much attention from the private sector.
