A Vietnamese fisherman who sustained a serious injury while working at sea has fully recovered and is ready to return to the homeland thanks to the help of both Vietnamese and Chinese sides. 





On July 20, fisherman Ho Thao was hit on his head by a cable while fishing in an area off the mouth of the Tonkin Gulf, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing. 

Shortly after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and embassy in China liaised with relevant Chinese agencies and asked for help. 

Later the same day, a rescue boat of China transported Ho Thao, who then fell into a coma, to the People’s Hospital of Sanya in China’s Hainan province, where he underwent a surgery. 

Vietnam’s representative bodies in China are working with local agencies and the Sanya hospital to send Ho Thao and three accompanied fishermen home. 

The country’s Consulate General in Guangzhou city also sent thanks to the hospital and China’s relevant agencies for their prompt assistance.
