Luu Thi Chuc My of Viet Nam on Thursday came third in the women’s 48kg snatch event at the ongoing IWF Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

My lifted 72kg after her third attempt, earning her a bronze medal at her world debut.
He Si of China won gold, lifting 81kg. Han Jong-sim from North Korea placed second with a result of 79kg.
In the clean & jerk event, My was eighth with 85kg. In total she placed fourth.
My grabbed 22 points for Viet Nam in the team ranking.
Late yesterday, Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien placed 15th in the women’s 53kg, and scored 11 points. Vo Thi Ngoc Thanh was 18th in the same event, with eight points.
The Vietnamese women’s squad completed their tournament, a qualification event of the 2018 Youth Olympics, with a total of 71 points. They will have to wait to see if they have grabbed a place at the Argentinean Games next October.
On Tuesday, Le Nguyen Quoc Bao of Viet Nam won a gold medal with a lift of 96kg in the snatch of the men’s 50kg category.
Bao lifted 96kg in the snatch of the men’s 50kg category to take gold. Chomchuen Teerapat of Thailand won silver medal with 94kg and Deng Hanpeng of China won the bronze medal with 92kg.
In the clean and jerk, Bao succeeded in lifting 119kg and received bronze medal. Teerapat took gold medal after lifting 125kg and the silver medal belonged to Huang Shiguo of China with 123kg.
With 215kg in total lift, Bao won silver medal. Thailand’s Teerapat won gold medal with 216kg and Shiguo of China won bronze medal with 213kg.
Bao has competed in weightlifting since 2011. He won two golds and one silver at the same event in 2015. Last year, he won one gold, one silver and one bronze.
Viet Nam sent seven male and six female to the tournament which has attracted 445 top young athletes from 57 countries around the globe.
The event’s top athletes will qualify for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Argentina on October 6-18 next year.
The tournament will wrap up on April 10.
