Hoang Son in Tan Binh district, HCMC has found a method that helps cool bitcoin mining machines which run day and night.

The method was once used to cool personal computers, but was only modestly effective.

The biggest problem in bitcoin mining is that the process generates heat and noise. That is why mining workshops cannot be located in houses or residential quarters. A set of bitcoin mining machines can generate a temperature of 70-80oC, and fire and explosions may occur at any time.

The biggest problem in bitcoin mining is that the process generates heat and noise. That is why mining workshops cannot be located in houses or residential quarters. A set of bitcoin mining machines can generate a temperature of 70-80oC, and fire and explosions may occur at any time.

However, if the machine is soaked into a solution, 99 percent of the noise will be eliminated and the temperature will fall by 30 percent. The method also transfers heat to other places with normal pumps.

‘Some customers asked me to install car heat sink for their bitcoin mining machines and put the machine outdoors to take full advantage of the wind. The temperature is kept at 40-50oC, and there is no need to use a ventilator or air conditioner.”

Son said that if heat dissipation can be done well, machines will be able to run around the clock and have longer life. In normal conditions, an ASIC machine can run at 1.6 GH/s, but with the heat dissipation method, it can run at 2 GH/s.

The biggest disadvantage of the method lies is the difficulty in maintenance because machines are soaked in mineral oil.

The method would be better applied to machines with high stability and compact components such as ASIC and D3. As for the mining machines with VGA, only cards should be soaked in the solution.

Son warned that once machine components are dipped into oil, the owners will no longer be under warranty. Besides, high-quality mineral oil is expensive.

When asked about safety, Son stuck his hand into the pool where the machine is soaked, took a cup of mineral oil and burned it to prove that the solution does not catch fire or conduct electricity.

He also said that the chemicals did not evaporate during three months of testing, so it will not cause problems if the pool of chemicals is put inside houses.

Son’s machines are being used to mine Dash, which, according to Son, is more easily mined than bitcoin.
