A frigate of the Vietnam People’s Navy is conducting an official visit to Singapore from January 23-28.

Colonel Le Xuan Thuy, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy, hosted a banquet on the ship, HQ-011 Dinh Tien Hoang, on January 25, with the participation of officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and Singapore ’s naval forces.
Colonel Tan Kai Cheong, Deputy Fleet Commander of the Republic of Singapore Navy and Commander of the Changi Naval Base, said this is the second time a Vietnamese naval ship has anchored at the Changi Port.
He expressed his hope that the two countries will maintain friendly visits such as this to sustain good relations between the two navies and thus contribute to defending navigational safety, security, and peace in the region.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy, the captain of the frigate, said the visit aims to enhance exchanges between naval forces, especially within ASEAN.
During their stay in Singapore , the Vietnamese vessel’s crew visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore , met with Singapore naval officials and had a bilateral sports exchange.
The ship is scheduled to leave the Changi Port on January 28 to attend the International Fleet Review in India in February 2016.
HQ-011 Dinh Tien Hoang is one of the two Gepark-class 3.9 frigates of the Vietnam People’s Navy. It is equipped with anti-submarine weapons, torpedo tubes and other modern devices used for detecting enemy submarines. It can effectively fight targets in the air, sea and underwater.
