Vietnamese cueists, Ma Xuan Cuong and Ngo Dinh Nai, have entered the main round of the Three-Cushion World Cup in Hurghada, Egypt.

Cuong is No. 23 in the world and Nai is No. 30 so they had to compete from the qualifying round.

Cuong beat Riad Nady of Egypt and Salman Gokhan of Turkey, while Nai defeated archrivals from South Korea, Lee Young-hoon and Cho Myung-woo. Cho is world No. 21 and was crowned the world junior champion last year.

Two other Vietnamese representatives, Ma Minh Cam, world No. 17, and Duong Anh Vu, world No. 19, were ousted from the qualification.

Viet Nam sent six players to Egypt. Besides the four players above, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen, world No. 10, and Tran Quyet Chien, world No. 16, automatically reached the main round.

Nai will next meet Bury Jeremy of France, world No. 15. Nguyen will face Leppens Eddy of Belgium, world No. 24. While Caudron Frédéric of Belgium, world No. 1 will play against Cuong and Chien will take on Kang Dong-koong of South Korea, world No. 20. — VNS
