Vietnamese players had a good start at the Dong Feng Citroen Badminton Asia Championships which began yesterday in Wuhan, China.

Nguyen Thuy Linh finds her berth in the main round of the Badminton Asia Championship in China.

Nguyen Thuy Linh advanced to the main round of the women’s singles category after beating Mazahreh Leina Fehmi of Jordan 21-3, 21-8, and Jia Min Yeo of Singapore 13-21, 21-18, 21-15 in the Group D of the qualification.

She will next play Xiaoyu Liang of Singapore today.

Duo Minh Bao and Duong Bao Duc also went through the main round of the men’s doubles after their 21-9, 21-8 win over Bishnu Katwat and Bikash Shrestha from Nepal.

Their next rivals will be South Korean Kim Gi-jung and Kin Sa-rang, who are No 7 seeds.

Vietnam’s top player Nguyen Tien Minh also begins his quest today in the men’s singles event.

The World No. 34 will face Malaysian Kean Yew Loh, marking their first ever meeting in their career.

Vu Thi Trang will kick-off the tournament in the women’s singles against Bae Yeon-ju of South Korea.

Trang will then pair with Nguyen Thi Sen to play Savitree Amitrapai and Pacharapun Chochuwong of Thailand in the women’s doubles.

The championships will last until Sunday.
