Prime Minister Le Minh Hung presided over an official welcoming ceremony for Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the Government Headquarters on the morning of October 26.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Hung welcomed Tusk and the high-level Polish delegation on their official visit to Vietnam.

Accompanied by ceremonial music, the two prime ministers stepped onto the podium of honor in the main hall of the Government Headquarters, where a military band played the national anthems of both countries.

The leaders then bowed before the military flag and inspected the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

Following the inspection, they introduced members of their respective high-level delegations attending the ceremony.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two prime ministers led their delegations into official talks to review the achievements of bilateral cooperation and discuss priorities for future collaboration.

They were also scheduled to witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries.

During his visit, Tusk is also expected to meet To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President, as well as National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Vietnam and Poland established diplomatic relations on February 4, 1950, and celebrated the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025.

As Poland has pursued a more open foreign policy with a stronger focus on Asia, it has attached considerable importance to Vietnam's role and position, identifying the country as one of its top priority partners in Southeast Asia.

Between the 1960s and 1990s, Poland helped train more than 4,000 Vietnamese students and scientific personnel, along with over 3,500 skilled workers, primarily in the coal mining and shipbuilding industries.

Bilateral trade reached US$3.94 billion in 2025, an increase of 14.8% from the previous year.

Several sectors are emerging as promising areas for further cooperation, including tourism, science and technology, artificial intelligence and renewable energy.

Poland is currently home to a Vietnamese community of approximately 25,000 people.
