The Special Envoy of the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Sanh Chau, and Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Colindres discussed measures to consolidate the two countries’ time-honoured relationship at their meeting in the Central American country on May 24.

Speaking after the meeting, Colindres affirmed Nicaragua’s support for Chau’s candidacy for the post of General-Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), international news agencies reported.

Chau expressed his pride of the bilateral friendship, saying that it is time for the two countries to foster the ties in various fields, especially economy and trade.

He also conveyed the Vietnamese leaders’ invitations to visit Vietnam to Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.

Also on the day, Chau met with leaders of the National Education Commission of Nicaragua.
