The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football (VPF) are receiving strong support from FIFA in conducting referee training courses and implementing VAR technology in Vietnam.
Fourth VAR training course underway in Hanoi

From March 27 to 31, the VFF, VPF, and the VFF Referee Committee are hosting the fourth VAR training course in Hanoi.
The course involves 27 referees, including 22 professional referees and assistant referees, along with 5 non-professional referees.
Besides training additional VAR referees, the course also aims to train 5 technicians (RO) responsible for operating the VAR system.
Additionally, 10 referee supervisors are attending the course as observers to gain a deeper understanding of how VAR functions during a match.
Farkhad, an experienced FIFA instructor, and Dang Thanh Ha, Head of the VFF Referee Committee, are the primary instructors for the course.
Farkhad expressed confidence in the potential of Vietnamese referees, noting that they have the capability to excel in the region.
He emphasized that to become skilled and competent referees, they must continuously study, improve their knowledge, and gain practical experience to achieve success and meet their personal goals.
Positive impact of VAR on Vietnamese football
Following three previous training courses held since 2023, Vietnam now has 36 referees and assistant referees certified by FIFA to officiate as VAR and AVAR officials.
Currently, VAR technology is applied in most V-League matches and in a selection of high-stakes matches in the First Division, National Cup, and some non-professional matches.
The use of VAR has significantly enhanced the quality of matches, offering valuable support to referees in fulfilling their duties accurately and efficiently.
