VietNamNet Bridge – Many people ignore the warning of railway security staff to cross the barrier at the intersection point between the railway and the road on Highway 21B in Ha Dong, Hanoi when the train is coming.
On April 14, a day after a train was forced to make an emergency stop after dozens of motorbike users ignored warning lights and the barriers and occupied the rail track, a similar situation occurred.
When the train was over 1 km (approximately 2 minutes of move) away from the intersection, the railway security staff turned on the alarm bell and simultaneously pulled the barrier to block vehicles from entering the dangerous area.
However, dozens of motorcyclists still drove their vehicles to the sidewalk, and crossed the barrier and the railway, when the train was only a few tens of meters away. They drove motorbikes across the rail and looked at the train.
Some people drove over the pavement section of over 2 meters wide, without a fence, to cross the railway.
Dang Van Luyen, 47, a local resident whose house is adjacent to the intersection, said that this situation has occurred for many years. Most of the violators were young motorcycle drivers and cyclists and even some cars and trucks.
After crossing the rail, some people pulled the barrier on the opposite side to go through. Being reminded by railway security staff, they were angry and insulted the railway staff.
A rail security staff named Pham Thi Nga, 26, said the time to stop vehicles for the train passing only takes 3-4 minutes but many people try to cross the barrier. Nga said she was insulted many times for preventing drivers from dangerously crossing the rail.
A young man drove a motorbike crossing the rail, despite the barrier.
A taxi stuck in the dangerous area after passing the rail.
When the train had not left yet, many people sped up to cross the rail.
According to the Vietnam Railway Company, 90% of traffic accidents on the railway were caused by individual drivers who did not obey traffic regulations when crossing the railway.
