K51 Team under the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command said on Sept. 29 that it had successfully recovered the remains near Dak Dam Con stream in Busara commune, Betchanda district, Mondulkiri province, Cambodia.

They are the first remains recovered by the team during its 2026-2027 dry-season mission in Cambodia.

K51 Team departed on Sept. 16 to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during different periods of war.

Upon arriving in Cambodia, the team quickly established accommodation and living arrangements before dispatching personnel to different areas to gather and follow up on information about possible burial sites.

Acting on information provided by local residents, K51 Team conducted a search on Sept. 29 and successfully recovered the remains.

At the site, the team also found several personal effects, including rubber sandals, a military uniform button, a B52 metal bowl and a medicine bottle.

According to K51 Team, the result reflected the close and timely direction of its Party Committee and Command Board, as well as the determination of its officers and soldiers to overcome difficult conditions.

Heavy rainfall has created considerable difficulties in traveling to and accessing search areas. Despite the conditions, search teams have continued reaching remote Cambodian villages and communities to gather and follow up on information as effectively as possible.
