Specifically, Dang Tuan Anh, a 12th-grade student from Chu Van An High School (Hanoi), won a Gold Medal; Nguyen Tien Loc, a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, won a Gold Medal; and Nguyen Si Hieu, a 12th-grade student from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students (Hai Phong), won a Gold Medal.

Ho Duc Trung, a 12th-grade student from Quoc Hoc High School for Gifted Students (Thua Thien - Hue), won a Silver Medal.

The 35th IBO in 2024 was held in the Republic of Kazakhstan from July 7th to 13th. This year's competition had the highest number of participating countries to date, with 81 countries and territories and 320 contestants.

According to the regulations of the IBO International Association, the competition awards Gold Medals to no more than 10% of the contestants, Silver Medals to 20%, and Bronze Medals to 30%. This year, a total of 28 Gold Medals, 56 Silver Medals, and 84 Bronze Medals were awarded.

The contestants undergo two official exam days, each lasting 6 to 8 hours. One day was dedicated to theoretical exams with two papers, and the other to practical exams across four laboratories focusing on Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Animal Anatomy and Physiology, and Bioinformatics.

This year's exam required contestants to have a thorough understanding of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, effectively applying classical and modern biological knowledge to solve diverse global problems.

The achievement of all four Vietnamese students winning medals, including three Gold Medals and one Silver Medal, at the 2024 IBO marks the best performance of Vietnamese students since 2019.

Notably, for the first time, many Vietnamese students achieved high scores in the practical exams, which are known for their rigorous standards at this competition.
