Since the start of the third quarter in 2017, mobile carriers have introduced new 4G data plans which are better than the current 3G ones. Earlier this month, VinaPhone and MobiFone began offering 4G plans with the lowest monthly fee of VND70,000. These plans offer more data than the previously announced ones.

VinaPhone has presented a whole new plan which can be used on both 3G and 4G networks and is considered the cheapest in terms of average monthly charge. With the Big70 plan costing VND70,000 a month, VinaPhone customers are offered 2.4GB data of high-speed connection on both 3G and 4G networks. Others with higher Internet usage can choose the Big90 plan, which offers 3.5GB data at VND90,000 a month.

VinaPhone currently has four plans available: Big70, Big90, Big120 and Big200, with the respective monthly charge of VND70,000, VND90,000, VND120,000 and VND200,000 for 2.4GB, 3.5GB, 6GB and 11GB data. VinaPhone also sells the special Big300 plan with 18GB data for VND300,000 per month.

After VinaPhone’s move, MobiFone launched its own 4G plans with the same data and charges as VinaPhone’s. They are called HD70, HD90, HD120 and HD120, though.

Viettel has kicked off 4G data plans with the lowest price of VND70,000 a month (4G70 plan) and 2GB data. Viettel's 3G plan costs the same but provides 600MB data a month.

VinaPhone is hiking data for its 3G and 4G plans but fees remain unchanged, according to a communications executive of VinaPhone.

By April 2017, VinaPhone’s 4G network has reached 12 cities and provinces. VinaPhone is planning to make its 4G service available nationwide this year.

MobiFone has completed the first phase of its 4G development plan in 35 cities and provinces and plans to expand 4G coverage throughout the country this year.
