According to Box Office Vietnam, the film had surpassed VND 77 billion by 2:30 p.m. on September 27, just two and a half days after opening. Nearly 5,000 screenings were scheduled for September 27 alone, with many cinemas posting sold-out notices. Its first two days brought in VND 50 billion ($1.92 million), a ticket-sales pace surpassed only by Tran Thanh’s Bunny!!, released during Tet 2026.

Beyond its intense action sequences, some of the most striking scenes in The Journey of Heroes feature hundreds of people crowded into detention spaces. According to the production team, more than 700 actors took part in these large-scale scenes, while the total number of cast and crew members involved in the production exceeded 10,000. VietKings subsequently recognized the film with a Vietnamese record for the number of participating cast and crew members.

Meanwhile, a special edition of Avengers: Endgame, released on the same day, has been unable to match The Journey of Heroes, selling only one-eighth as many tickets. The rerelease primarily appeals to dedicated fans of the superhero franchise who want to experience again in theaters the film that became a sensation six years ago.

Luck for Sale, featuring Hong Dao and People’s Artist Hong Van, has slipped to third place after two lucrative weeks and has now reached VND 90 billion ($3.46 million).

Ut Lan 2 officially opened on September 25 but has been overshadowed by the popularity of The Journey of Heroes. Even so, it has taken VND 39 billion ($1.50 million), largely from advance screenings the previous week. It currently ranks fourth at the box office.

Rounding out the top five is the Hollywood horror blockbuster Resident Evil. Now in its second week, it has earned VND 20 billion ($770,000).

In another development, An mang karaoke, starring Van Dung and Thanh Son, was due to open the following weekend but has announced a move to October 30 to avoid competing with The Journey of Heroes.
