Over 40 per cent of cyber-attacks come from the United States and more than 15 per cent from China, the Voice of Viet Nam (VOV) online newspaper reported.

The data, released on Monday by the Viet Nam Computer Emergency Response Team under the Ministry of Information and Communication, was until the fourth quarter of 2015.

The centre said Viet Nam is believed to be the country with the fastest speed of IT development in Southeast Asia, therefore, it has become the target of cyber-attacks.

In a related development, statistics from the Ministry of Public Security recently showed that 4,605 websites with the country domain (.vn) were attacked in the first six months of this year.

The number was 50 per cent higher than the same period last year.
