Cao Ngoc Ha, a Vietnamese amateur runner, has entered the top 10 of the Asia Trail Master Championship by winning the Vietnam Jungle Marathon (VJM) held in Pu Luong Nature Reserve in the central province of Thanh Hoa held from May 26-28.
He now has a total of 975 points.
Earlier, Ha of Long Distance Runners team finished third in February’s Ultra Trail Koh Chang in Thailand. It was the first time a Vietnamese runner has reached the podium in this event.
Last year, Ha finished second in the men’s 100km category at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) in Sa Pa District, Lao Cai Province
“If I keep my fitness up, I will stay in the top 10 and maybe enter the top five,” said Ha.
The Vietnamese trail running star is eyeing more progress in three more events this year: the Tam Dao Mountain Trail later this month in Vinh Phuc Province, VMM in Sa Pa in September and Bromo Tengger Semeru 100 Ultra in Indonesia in November.
Asia Trail Master is an annual series of trail running races managed by Kuai Sports Promotions Ltd in Hong Kong, featuring a championship based on a points system.
Three events held in Vietnam namely VJM, VMM and Tam Dao Mountain Trail belong to Asia Trail Master’s system.
