Since the beginning of the year, Viet Nam has achieved an estimated trade surplus of $2.86 billion.

Total export value reached $103.79 billion as of June 15, an increase of 16.6 per cent, equivalent to an increase of $14.81 billion over the same period last year.

Total import value reached $100.93 billion, up 9.8 per cent, equivalent to an increase of $9.05 billion over the same period last year.

The total value of turnover in the first half of June was $9.51 billion, down 14.4 per cent compared with the last 15 days of May due to fluctuations in certain categories.

Exports of phones and components fell by $283 million; machinery, equipment and spare parts dropped by $233 million, and exports of vehicles and spare parts decreased by $127 million.

The value of import turnover in the first half of this month was $9.48 billion, decreasing 10.8 per cent (equivalent to $1.15 billion) compared with the last 15 days of May.

Compared to the second half of May, imports in the first half of June declined across major categories.

Imports of computers, electronic products and components fell $524 million; machinery, equipment and spare parts dropped $99 million, and pharmaceuticals decreased $96 million. — VNS
