The Dong Van upland district located in the outrageously beautiful, rugged and mountainous province of Ha Giang is home to one of the most vibrant and busiest farmers markets in Vietnam.
Dong Van Market is the biggest in Ha Giang province. It’s open every Sunday from early 5 am until 3 or 4 pm. Everyone dresses in brilliant clothes and brings along anything they can from birds’ nests to buffaloes and cows. Tay, Mong, Nung, Lo Lo ethnic minority women wear lively costumes. Small girls manage a stand. An elderly woman travels dozens of kilometres to the market to sell several bundles of vegetables. A variety of beans are popular at the market. |
