Vietnamese and foreign scientists are exchanging outcomes of mycological researches at the Asian Mycological Congress 2017 that opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 11.

The three-day congress is co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Biology and Biotechnology Association and the Asian Mycological Association, drawing the participation of more than 250 international mycologists. 

This is the world’s largest scientific congress of mycologists held biennially since 1986. 

More than 160 reports presented at the event will focus on the role of fungi in ecology, physiology and bio-chemistry, fungus cultivation, taxonomy and evolution of fungus, and fungus applications. 

The congress marks a development step of the mycology branch of the HCM City Biology and Biotechnology Association, while affirming the integration of Vietnam’s mycology sector into the international research community.
