Vietnam's great efforts have brought more foreign travelers to the country




According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), 1.3 million foreign travelers came to Vietnam in August, up by 11.3 percent over July, while 10.5 million were here in the first eight months of the year, an increase of 22.8 percent over the same period last year.

A survey at international border gates found that 60 percent of foreign visitors are travelling independently. This in line with the reports by airlines which say that foreign travelers choose services via the internet or book land tours after arriving in Vietnam. 

Tran Thi Bao Thu from Fiditour said the number of travelers booking domestic tours has  increased rapidly in the last two to three years.

Many new destinations have been introduced to travelers, and infrastructure and tourism services have been upgraded.

Ha Long Bay, Trang An – Ninh Binh heritage site, the cave system in Quang Binh, and Phu Quoc and Con Dao Islands are well known to foreign and domestic travelers. Travelers also like to visit the village in Ninh Binh which appeared in the Kong: Skull Island movie.

Also attractive are tours to experience the flood season in the southwestern region, flowers in the northwest and wild sunflowers in the Central Highlands, and Phu Quoc.

Hoi An ancient town has the "Memory of Hoi An" show, while Da Lat City lures travelers to Dreaming Hill and Valley of Love.

Analysts have noted a significant increase in the number of Russian travelers, especially to beaches. Russia ranked sixth among Vietnam’s top 10 markets with 413,000 travelers in the first eight months of the year.

Considering tourism a key industry, Vietnam has been making every effort to please travelers by offering a wide range of services and tourism products.

A senior executive of Saigontourist noted that travelers have begun showing big interest in domestic tours, especially economical ones.

Travel firms and service providers have designed tours with the best possible prices to stimulate demand. At Saigontourist, for example, economical tours are implemented in cooperation with airlines.

A report released lately by UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) showed that Vietnam ranks third in the world in terms of the growth of international travelers, with a growth rate of 29.1 percent.

Vietnam was recently the winner of Asia’s Leading Destination prize at the World Travel Awards, held in Hong Kong in early September.
